The Little Critters Return In Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver

Nintendo certainly know how to please their fans. Way back on the old Gameboy Color, the games Pokemon Gold and Silver ruled the roost. To be sure, the titles are so well-liked that they're still being enjoyed nowadays as cult favourites. However, Nintendo are looking to build on the polularity of those titles by producing remakes on their popular DS family. Say hello to Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver.

A nice feature presented in Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver is that users can sync their new game to any previous Diamond, Pearl or Platinum titles they have already got on the DS. This suggests users will keep all the rare and special Pokemon they battled so hard to seek out on previous games. And you'll definitely need them all, as this game offers up nearly twice as many gym arenas as in the earlier installments, expanding the game extensively.

This game is good fan service to all the steadfast Pokemon collectors out there, and retains some of the best components from previous titles. Retro music is included in Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver drawing back nostalgic tracks from the earliest Pokemon titles, along with vast regions you'll recognise but which provide new tasks.

However, Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver isn't all about rehashing old features. The visuals and audio have clearly been highly improved since the Gameboy colour days, and Pokemon has never looked this impressive. Running on the same format as Platinum, the game is pushed even more with some excellent fully animated fighting scenes.

If you're even remotely a Pokemon fan, this game is perfect for you. It brings along all the most successful and well-loved elements of past installments and adds a little magic in the form of improved visuals and additional features to make a great experience. Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver is an absolute cert for fans of the franchise, and is certain to get a new generation interested aswell!
